Privacy Policy

Yestern offers family-history media experiences and an interest list for people who want to hear about the service. This policy explains how information is handled on this website and in private libraries.

Information we collect

When you join the interest list, we store your email address, submission time, and a record of your agreement to be contacted. Older submissions may also include an optional media preference. We use this information to respond to your interest and discuss Yestern with you.

If you create an account, we process your email address, account identifier, and any name you provide. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in credentials. Your library may contain family names, places, dates, stories, source records, and media supplied or prepared for you. Please share information about living people only when you have permission or another appropriate basis.

Hosting and authentication providers may process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser information, and security logs, to deliver and protect the service.

How information is used and shared

We use information to manage the interest list, operate accounts, deliver private collections, provide support, and protect the service. Authorized Yestern administrators can access member collections to prepare and manage content. Other members cannot browse your private library.

Our current service providers include Firebase for authentication, Supabase for private library data and media storage, and our Sites hosting infrastructure, including Cloudflare, for the website and interest-list database. They process information needed to provide those functions. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to address fraud, abuse, or threats to safety.

Browser storage and external media

Sign-in uses browser storage to maintain your session. The current application does not include advertising trackers. Some example listening experiences load YouTube recordings when you enter playback; YouTube may receive technical information and use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy. External source links take you to independently operated websites.

AI and historical material

Public examples include AI-assisted artwork, synthetic narration, and editorial interpretations of historical sources. Joining the interest list does not upload family records or initiate AI research. The current private-library app stores and plays content added by an administrator; it does not automatically send your library to an AI model.

Retention and your choices

We retain interest-list records while following up on your interest, and account information while providing your library. You can ask to stop contact or request deletion. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or backup purposes. Media access links already issued can remain valid until their expiry.

To ask a question or request access, correction, deletion, or removal from the interest list, email amierchery@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on an account request.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or complaints to a privacy regulator.

Children and family use

Accounts and interest-list registration are intended for adults. Families may experience content together under adult supervision. Please do not submit a child’s contact details to register their interest.

Security and changes

We use authenticated access and database access controls to protect private collections, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in countries other than yours. We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice where required.
